Glass
Life-cycle studies consistently identify glass as a major packaging impact in conventional wine systems. Weight, recycled content, reuse, distance, and infrastructure all change the answer.
Capsules
Modern capsules may be decorative rather than essential. Producers are already removing them in some contexts, reducing material without changing what is in the bottle.
Labels & shipping
Paper, films, adhesives, cartons, inserts, and transport are not invisible once a bottle leaves the shelf.
